HSE Issues Advice Over Domestic Gas Use

Many people are unaware that the HSE does not only cover health and safety issues as they affect the workplace, but also offers advice on many issues concerning safety at home.

One such element of this is their Domestic Gas pages of their website, which provided information and advice with regard to the safe us Gas appliances and explains the need to ensure anyone servicing any form of gas appliance, must be appropriately trained and registered with Gas Safe.

It explains also what Gas Safe is all about and the fact that this relatively new industry wide registration body replaces what was previously known as Korgi Registered.

The advice pages also refers readers to the register of Gas Safe registered engineers in your local area, making it easy to ensure3 that only suitably registered people access your gas service and equipment.

There is also very important information about carbon monoxide and the risk of poisoning if your gas appliances are not serviced correctly. It also contains advice on how to ensure that you are not being poisoned by carbon monoxide emissions which can be caused by faulty appliances.

Given the huge numbers of people living in property run by private landlords, one of the most important elements within the HSE website Domestic Gas pages; is that of listing details of landlords responsibility for the safety of their tenants and what they must do to ensure gas services and appliances provided are safe to be used by the tenant.
